Tethered
A short space rogue-like for EXEC//JAM (2024).
You are a drone, tethered to a damaged mothership. Defend it from incoming asteroids and missiles. Destroy asteroids and caches to gather resources to repair it. When repaired, travel through a gateway to do it all over again. Game gets "harder" with each gateway you traverse (obstacles are spawned faster, are faster, and do more damage).
The game has no audio. I miscalculated how much I could achieve in forty-eight hours - adding sound would have taken too much time.
The experience reminds me of super old games that I used to make on Scratch, where I would use pixel art at non-uniform scales and aggressive flashes of colour modulation to emphasise different game components. Cutting corners in this project produced the same effect, which is pretty neat.
The tooltips for sector descriptions in the web export do not work properly - the following is the lost tooltips, plus useful information, in table form:
NORMAL | Normal sector. | |
DANGER | Dangerous sector.
RESOURCE-RICH | Resource-rich sector, particularly in the resource icon displayed (in-game).
CACHE | Cache sector. The cache provides all resources required to repair the mothership when destroyed.
GATEWAY | Gateway sector. The gateway, when flown through, begins the next floor. Can only be flown through when the mothership is repaired. |

Woah this is cool! I wish I could have been able to attack while being at the mothership though. I survived 18 sectors I hope that's pretty good!
...I don't think it is lol
Congrats on your submission ^^
18 sectors is a great high score - thanks for playing, and thank you for hosting!! :)
